Jerry Thomas CurrinNovember 6, 1935 ~ January 26, 2016 (age 80)
Jerry Thomas Currin was called home January 26, 2016 after an illness that he fought with grace and determination. His beautiful voice, in which he used as a witness to his Christian faith, will not be silenced as he is now singing with his Lord’s choir.
Jerry was born November 6, 1935 to the late Julius C. Currin and Dovie Stephenson Currin Painter. His wife of 58 years, Peggy Kesler Currin preceded him in death in 2012. He was also predeceased by his sons-in-law, Billy Jackson and Dub Smith.
He was owner of Currin Agency and Associates, an insurance business. Jerry was the owner of men’s clothing stores for many years, clothing many young men in which he formed lifetime friendships.
He is survived by his daughters, June Currin Smith of Fuquay-Varina, Teresa A. Currin and Donna Currin Thompson and husband, Coy Lee Thompson, Jr., all of Holly Springs. Jerry deeply loved his grandchildren, Shane Connor and Lauren Walters, Kelly C. Blewer and husband J. D., Amy T. Redeyoff and husband David, Ryan Connor and fiancée Christina Czysz, Jordan Smith and Harper Jones, Adam Thompson and great grandson, Colton Blewer. He is also survived by his brothers, Tony A. Currin and wife Johanna of Wilmington, Stephen C. Currin and wife Wanda of Fuquay- Varina, sister, Judy C. Powell of Anderson, S. C., aunt, Ruby Stephenson Currin Gibson, friend, Meg Gresham and his dog and loyal companion, Bo.
Jerry wanted to thank Dr. William Berry and his staff of Duke Cancer Center in Cary for their devoted care and friendships. He also requested appreciation be given to the staff of the 4th floor at Duke Raleigh Hospital and Transitions Life Care for their compassion and care.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina. A Homecoming Service to celebrate the life of our Dad will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2016 with interment following at Greenlawn Gardens. The family will be at 713 Occoneechee Drive in Fuquay-Varina at other times.
